Plus Sizes Designer Clothing

Plus sizes in clothing were once hideous. They were hard to find and when you did find them you regretted every single purchase. Plus size lingerie was a joke. You had your choice between a red flannel nightgown and a blue flannel nightgown. Thank goodness the retail industry has opened their eyes. Those designers who once ignored the plus size set are now designing clothing lines specifically for the curvy gal.

Twenty years ago women who were larger had very limited choices when it came to plus size lingerie, plus size bras, plus size swimwear, plus size dresses and office attire. Sweat pants or men’s sizes were typically the clothing plus size women had to seek out. It was a sad day for fashion minded divas who wanted to wear fashionable attire for a night out on the town or to the office. Designers just didn’t create plus size apparel.

But as the world’s waistline has expanded and more designers are seeing the added benefit of selling larger clothing to willing consumers, they have designed entire lines based on the plus size woman’s needs. Office attire, lingerie, costumes and even shoes have become huge selling points in the clothing market. Plus size women are willing to pay a bit more for a brand they know will fit right and be fashionable.

One of the world’s biggest sellers of plus sizes in clothing is Lane Bryant. It is a store devoted to the plus size woman. The shelves and racks are stocked with the latest designer fashions for retail stores. Now, this is not the super high end store with the hand painted jeans, but it also is not Wal-Mart’s limited selection of stretchy plus size pants. These are items with a real flair for style.

Clothing can be difficult to find in plus sizes but it is not impossible if you know where to look. Many retail stores are getting the hint that the average woman is not a size 5. Most women are a size 12 and larger. They need clothing that fits well, is fashionable and affordable. The plus size woman should not have to hide behind a hideous frock that resembles a tent. She deserves the best in the world of fashion.
