Plus Size Models - Defining New Standards Of Beauty

Have you ever seen a woman or girl so painfully thin that each bone protruded from her skin? It would be sad if this was a rarity, but it is even sadder because it is not. Millions of women suffer from poor body image. They struggle each day to fit into a society that tells them they are too fat, too tall or too short. There is hope though and it comes in the form of plus size models.

The women that plus size lingerie, plus size tops, plus size sexy bras and plus size maternity wear is aimed at do not look like the models in the ads. How could a creature who weighs little more than a hundred and five pounds ever have the same body shape as a plus size woman weighing over one hundred and fifty pounds? The answer is that they do not have the same shape. It is ridiculous to have thin women wearing fashions supposedly marketed for the plus size women clothing niche. Something had to change and gladly it did.

It is a sad fact that many young women who suffer so badly from poor body image starve themselves. They endanger their health over a few pounds. But there are new faces in the modeling industry to show these young women that a healthy body and body image is not limited to those with rail thin figures. Emme, Natalie Laughlin, Barbara Brickner and Kate Dillon are some of the most famous plus size models to grace the world’s magazines, catwalks, television sets and fashion shows. Their message is one that needs to be told and it also helping to get more plus size dresses, lingerie plus sizes, and sexy womens lingerie for the curvy gals into mainstream stores.

Women will always battle with body image. So much of what a woman is, is defined through her outward appearance. Perhaps with more education and other plus size models serving as inspiration, new generations will have a healthier lifestyle and acceptance of the wonderful differences in everyone’s shape, size and features. It is what makes all of us beautiful.
